I began my business as a single, struggling salon owner in a poor neighborhood in Dayton, Ohio. After being in the hair industry for about five years, my two hairdressing friends and I decided it was time to open up a professional hair salon for the first time.
Our first potential investor promised an initial investment of $50,000, but he never came through. We lost valuable time and invested a lot of energy into pursuing a dead-end lead. If we had acquired the skills we have today, we would have avoided these costly mistakes.
